Rittenhouse Tavern, Brand New Restaurant At The Philadelphia Art ...

Rittenhouse Tavern, featuring the delicious dishes of Chefs Ed Brown and Nicholas Elmi, is located in the historic Wetherill Mansion ? one of the last surviving grand private mansions built on Rittenhouse Square ? now home to the Philadelphia Art Alliance, a museum of contemporary art. Rittenhouse Square?s east stretch along 18th Street is one of the best dining corridors in the city, featuring Parc, Rouge and Devon plus a. kitchen and Serafina right across the street.

Joining the cadre is the Rittenhouse Tavern, a brand new venture replacing Gardenia inside the Philadelphia Art Alliance featuring a quaint courtyard out back for outside dining sheltered by trees, the perfect compromise for dining on the Square without all the hustle and bustle.

Chef Ed Brown, Sr. Vice President of Food and Beverage of Restaurant Associates, is excited to announce former Le Bec-Fin Executive Chef (at age 31!) Nicholas Elmi as the restaurant?s Executive Chef. Together they?ve assembled a menu of what they?ve called ?approachable, seasonal and modern American fare.? Translation? Deliciousness.

The Tavern opens its doors tomorrow, April 24. Food highlights include deviled Eggs with pork scrapple; New Jersey Striped Bass with Tuscan kale, hedgehog mushrooms, hibiscus-red wine; a burger featuring a custom La Frieda blend; and the most creative desserts we?ve seen in a while (blueberry soup; prickly pear gelatto; brown Butter Cake with rhubarb, lavender, cr?me fraiche sorbet. So freaking delicious.

Not to mention the local-heavy beer list, extensive wine options and great craft cocktails.

And there?s plenty to come. Think family-style fried chicken Sunday Suppers, plus brunch and lunch.
