For hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, it was the 6th of July.
The tube steak terror, as he has every Independence Day since 2007, out-gorged the Coney Island competition to win his sixth consecutive annual Nathan?s Famous franks contest.
Chestnut?s gut-busting Wednesday performance equaled his 2009 record of 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes ? or one every 8.8 seconds.

?I feel pretty damn good,? said Chestnut, of San Jose, Calif., after donning the mustard yellow champion?s belt. ?I?d do this for free.?
Instead, the competitive eater known as ?Jaws? collects a $10,000 first prize to go along with the belt. The six wins, in addition to likely indigestion, tie him with Takeru Kobayashi for the most in the competition?s history.

Chestnut delivered a 100% beef beatdown to runner-up Tim Janus? 52-dog performance.
?Once I get a rhythm going, I can jump those hot dogs down,? said Chestnut. ?How could this get old? I feel great.?
In his six-year reign, Chesnut has downed 382 wieners to establish himself as undisputed top dog. His post-contest Fourth of July plans were pretty basic.
?I?m going to take a nap, drink some beer and watch the fireworks,? he said.
"WHO WROTE THIS S---?" BLOOMBERG ASKS DURING HOT DOG CONTEST SPEECH
For the second straight year, Sonya (Black Widow) Thomas took the women?s title by scarfing down a record 45 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.
?I'm 45 this year,? she declared. ?I wanted to eat my age."
The slender 100-pound Virginia woman, draped in an American flag, celebrated with a victory lap through the beachfront audience. Thomas shattered her own mark of 40 hot dogs to claim the championship.
